What motivates you?

What motivates you directly influences your use of English. What is your truth about English?

Truth: You learn something faster if it is:

  1. interesting,
  2. amusing,
  3. necessary to survive, or
  4. useful for improving your life.

Whatever your motivation, as your coach I will help you progress faster.

How can I help you?

I know your mistakes and mental blocks! After 25 years of teaching and removing obstacles, I know why Spanish speakers struggle with English. I know your language: I studied Spanish and have lived in Spain since 2001. I know your pain: I've also struggled while learning. I know the satisfaction: I've celebrated my own progress and, above all, the achievements of my students. I know different teaching methods: the most important thing is mindset, unlearning bad language habits, and building confidence quickly.

Which method do I use?

The method matters. If you learned English in the traditional Spanish education system, you probably learned it in a way that's the opposite of how native English speakers learn it. Many adults learned English incorrectly: with books, in lectures, and with teachers who didn't master the language.

We all learn by repetition. If something is repeated often enough, we learn it... whether it's right or wrong! Unfortunately, most Spaniards only learned parts of the language: lots of reading, but little comprehension and pronunciation. Poorly learned structures, sounds, or words were reinforced, and now, as adults, they discover how difficult English seems. But it's not your fault. It simply wasn't taught well.

Children learn first by listening, then by speaking, and later by reading and writing. That's the natural order. But it takes time: dozens, hundreds, or thousands of repetitions until something becomes automatic.

The good news is that, as an adult, you can learn faster and memorize better. Your challenge is to reduce distractions and create new mental pathways for understanding and expressing yourself. Over time, this becomes second nature… but it doesn't happen overnight.

I focus on your weaknesses and your strengths. We work to rebuild and adjust what's most relevant, while reinforcing your already proven ability to communicate clearly.

This is achieved through your four “A”s:

  • Ability = aptitude attitude (your attitude compensates for any limitations)
  • Application = method maintenance (focusing on the right things produces results)
  • Acceleration = technique rhythm (good technique and more rhythm reduce learning time)
  • Ascent = direction determination (reaching the top depends on staying the course)
